Autumn isn’t just a season; it’s a time of transition and change. The season represents new beginnings, from the turning of leaves to the harvesting of crops. It is an opportunity for us to thrive in the shift from what was to what will be. Autumn signifies a time for many more changes than those that take place outside. We have the opportunity to harvest in many ways. But can we say that we are ready? Does this change scare you? Are you afraid of change and all it stands for?

I love the autumn season, for all the reasons above, changing colours of the leaves, the nights drawing in just a little earlier each day which means I start to wind down from the day a little earlier. I also take stock of what has been and what I would like to see happen by the end of the year. In years past, there has occasionally been a sprint for the final 100 days of the year,to do all the things I wanted one year in the last 3 months.  But this year I want to enjoy the season in a different way.

What is Autumn?

The season of autumn carries with it feelings of change and renewal.

The autumnal equinox is the start of the season, celebrated on September 22 this year. Autumn is typically considered the second half of summer, but it’s also a period running from September 22 through December 21. The word ‘autumn’ comes from Old English “æftera geára”, meaning “after summer.”

But as much as I love fall, there are also many reasons why people dislike autumn. Here are five common complaints about autumn :

  1. It’s too cold outside – Yes you begin to notice the change in temperature. Having to wear another layer of clothing and missing the warmth of the sun.
  1. The leaves are falling down – Yes, the trees go through their transition, shedding the leaves of Summer and preparing for the Winter months. It may feel depressing for some as they may miss the joy of this season as they look to the dark Winter months.
  1. I can’t get motivated to change my life. – As the nights draw in earlier and earlier you begin to shut down a little earlier too. It’s only natural because our body clock moves in sync with the the cycle of day and night. As such, you may not feel you have the energy you had during the Summer and change feels more difficult.

Experience Autumn Differently

As I said earlier, this year I want to do things a little differently. I’m still reflecting and setting goals, its what I enjoy and keeps me focussed but this time I am going to take a more intuitive approach.

  1. Use your inner guidance system.
  2. Be Flexible
  3. Make time for fun activities.
  4. Respect your energy.
Use Your Inner Guidance System

What is your inner guidance system? Your internal guidance system is the part of you that knows what’s best for you, what you need, what will make you happy, and how to achieve those things. It’s the part of you that dreams big and believes in possibilities—it’s the part of yourself that never gives up on anything.

Your inner guidance system is the part of you that wants nothing more than to see you succeed and be happy. It’s the part of yourself that can make anything happen when working together with your conscious mind. Your inner guiding system can help you if you sense that something in your life needs to change but isn’t willing to do so on its own. You must use it!

Be Flexible

This autumn, we are being asked to be flexible, open and receptive.

The most important thing to do is listen to our wisdom and the direction we should go in, not the direction we want. This means letting go of our fears and doubts.

When you have a vision of where you want to go and what your purpose is in this life, it’s easy to get caught up in trying to control everything around you. You try to make things happen according to your timetable or plan instead of allowing them to unfold naturally on their timeline.

You may think that if you try to push things along, things will happen faster or better than they would if you just let them be. But when we try too hard or force something into fruition before it’s ready, it can backfire on us, creating resistance and making it difficult for us to manifest what we desire.

The message this fall is that our job right now is not about controlling the world around us; it’s about listening for guidance and following it through gracefully — even when things don’t always go as expected or intended.

Make Time For Fun!

In this autumn season, there are many ways to enjoy the outdoors. Take a hike or go camping in the mountains or on the beach. You can even find great festivals celebrating local culture and food. This was the first year I had ben camping in over 40 years and enjoyed it!

In this autumn season, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of life;  a new school year for some, parents preparing for the school year, a final quarter to perform at work, there can seem to be so much pressure in the Autumn season. It’s simple to overlook the importance of setting aside time for leisurely pursuits and relaxation. We can speak of balance at times and I understand there are times where there are targets and deadlines that have to be met and fun can take a back seat. However, remember to move fun from the back seat to your man seat and find something that nourishes body and soul.

But it’s essential to make time for these things — especially if you’re a woman!

4. Respect your energy

How do you manage and respect your energy?

At the end of the day, we all want to feel like we can be the best version of ourselves. But how do we get there?

Most people don’t know how to manage their energy, but the truth is that we all get to choose how we use our precious resource.

You might not realize it, but your energy is something that you can control—and a lot of people don’t take the time to learn how to do so.

The first step towards managing your energy is understanding what it is and where it comes from. Your energy comes from within—it’s an internal force that drives your actions and reactions in life. It’s what gives you drive, motivation, and determination. It’s also what makes you feel good about yourself and helps you achieve your goals.

The key is learning how to manage your energy so you can focus on what matters most, instead of wasting it on things that aren’t worth your time or attention. And what is worth your attention? Your wisdom will guide you.

In Conclusion

I invite you to take stock of how much emotional/mental/spiritual energy you are using every day to live your life as a human being on planet Earth. It might surprise you!

However, there are ways to embrace autumn gracefully and enjoy its beauty from within.
